About the Project
The Micromoments Project began as a personal writing project, permission to write unfiltered. Over the course of a year I collected several essays written after traveling and they all seemed to share a certain structure - a single kernel of a moment that sparked expanded reflection.
The more I began to write around these moments, the more I naturally looked for them. I sought out the spontaneity of small moments - a lovely beam of light, the way someone sits in a doorway, the shifting sounds of an intersection around sunset. I won't claim this as true travel writing, but it is writing inspired by the beauty of the world and more so the quiet ways in which we reach for connection with one another, even if it be for a singular moment.
I started Micromoments in a time of wandering, of creating and wanting to relate to the world in a way that wasn't so mediated by transaction (something that felt inherent to me in the journalism world). What you will find here are unfiltered writings, often simplistic, with rough sketches and imperfect photographs to accompany them.
Micromoments are for those of us who peer into the world trying to understand themselves, who find mirrors in people and places that challenge the notion of borders. Its for people who love people and the bounty this world has to offer. For those who see the big picture even in the quiet moments.
If that sounds like you, join me from time to time just for a Micromoment - enough time for a quick read and a cup of chai to go with it.

A little bit about the person behind the project:
My name is Kamna, and I'm an in-between things-er in full honesty. After several years working in local journalism (which I still love and we should all support) I now call myself a communications professional with a decade of experience in local media and mission-driven communications. You can find more about my professional side here.
More accurately, I write, I like to paint and am enjoying a foray into urban sketching. I'm experimenting with my newly reacquainted creative voice while I figure out life as an early 30's person in a rapidly changing world flooded with information.
What I cherish most - homemade chai with friends gathered in one spot, preferably beneath the sun, unbound for time and spirit. My hope is this multimedia space can feel like a little bit like that spot of shade in an overwhelming and overstimulated world.
